Pumped Storage
Pumped storage is a clever method to balance peak-hours power demand by using facilities during off-peak hours. During the late night (an off-peak demand time), electricity is used to pump water from a lower reservoir into one at a higher elevation. The water stored in the upper reservoir is released during high demand hours when it is directed through hydraulic turbines to generate electricity.
