Smart Grid Resources
The Department of Energy (DOE) Office
of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability works to ensure that this Nation's
energy delivery system is secure, resilient and reliable.
The GridWise Alliance, founded in 2003,
has developed into an organization that represents a broad range of the energy
supply chain from utilities to large tech companies to academia to venture capitalists
to emerging tech companies.
The GridWise Architecture Council is
a team of industry leaders who are shaping the guiding principles, or architecture,
of a highly intelligent and interactive electric system-one ripe with decision-making
information exchange and market-based opportunities.
The GridWise Demonstration Project was a year-long project to test the notion that smart grid technologies and consumers can play an active role in managing the grid.
The National Energy Technology Laboratory
(NETL), part of DOE's national laboratory system, is owned and operated by the
U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). NETL supports DOE's mission to advance the national,
economic, and energy security of the United States.
The Federal
Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is focusing on issues associated with
a smarter grid consistent with Title XIII of the Energy Independence and Security
Act of 2007
National Institute of Standards and Technology has the primary responsibility to coordinate development of a framework that
includes protocols and model standards for information management to achieve interoperability
of smart grid devices and systems.
North American Energy Standards
Board (NAESB) serves as an industry forum for the development and promotion
of standards which will lead to a seamless marketplace for wholesale and retail
natural gas and electricity, as recognized by its customers, business community,
participants, and regulatory entities.
