BPA is continually striving to support and improve the opportunities and tools related to its Commercial and Industrial Lighting Efficiency Program. Most recently this includes the release of version 2.0 of the program’s Lighting Calculator spreadsheet, incorporation of new measures into the program, and offering of upcoming training opportunities for utility program managers and trade allies.
Lighting Calculator 2.0
The calculator is now available on the planning, tracking, and reporting system’s downloads area. The new calculator, developed by Navigant Consulting, incorporated feedback and input from a year-long collaboration with utilities.
Lighting Calculator 2.0 features a streamlined user interface highlighting many new capabilities designed to simplify project entry, support utility customization, and facilitate program enhancements. Additionally, the new version includes reimbursement for several new measures (see list below) that expand the efficiency opportunity.
With such an exciting scope of enhancements, BPA has scheduled
several training and support opportunities
in conjunction with the Lighting Calculator 2.0's release to help users transition from previous versions.
Note: BPA recognizes that there may be projects in progress that would be disrupted by a required immediate transition to the new version. In an effort to help streamline the transition previous versions of the Lighting Calculator will remain available as acceptable submissions for BPA lighting programs through 31 December 2010.
New Measures
Several new measures have been added to the Commercial and Industrial Lighting Efficiency Program. These have been built into the new Lighting Calculator 2.0, including several light emitting diode (LED) products. Specific measures:
- Dimmable cold cathodes
- Ceramic metal halide display lights
- Screw-in induction lamps
- LED screw-in area lights
- LED case lighting
- LED outdoor signage
- LED canopy lights
- LED screw-in reflector lamps
BPA has established reimbursements for these measures, and has also created new processes to ensure that the regional experience in emerging technologies is leveraged and captured in program improvements going forward.
