Albeni Falls Dam Proposed winter operations at Albeni Falls Dam The Bonneville Power Administration has made a proposal to the Army Corps of Engineers to operate Albeni Falls Dam during the winter months (approximately late December through March) to increase water storage and power generation potential. Under BPA's proposal, the operating range would generally be between elevation 2,051 feet and 2,056 feet. This operation would allow operators to: Store additional water in the lake when water is available from late December through March. Use the water during periods when it would provide a higher value to serve regional power demands, for example during a cold snap or a major power plant outage. The ability to store and draft Lake Pend Oreille would increase the project's value to the entire regional electricity system and all BPA ratepayers, who include all Northwest residents served by publicly and cooperatively owned electric utilities, such as Pend Oreille PUD.  To continue click here
