Libby (FEC) to Troy Rebuild
The following comments were submitted in response to the open comment period described below.
The Libby (FEC) to Troy Section of BPA’s Libby to Bonners Ferry 115-kilovolt Transmission Line Rebuild Project is needed to improve its reliability and meet future load growth in the Libby, Mont. area. The line was originally built in the 1950s. The project would involve removing the existing wood pole structures and replacing them with new steel pole structures. Some of the new structures may be taller than the existing structures and all structures would have a wider pole spacing. Approximately 18 miles of the line would be rebuilt. Preliminary designs for rebuilding the line will examine either rebuilding as is, or upgrading to 230-kV. Upgrading the line would also mean building access roads needed in order to properly maintain the line.
