- In much the same way that BPA provides responsible environmental stewardship, our goal is to manage all public resources using good judgment and prudence. This effort includes a commitment to accurately tracking the deployment and storage of personal property. BPA’s wise use and management of resources is a key reason residents and businesses in the Pacific Northwest enjoy some of the lowest-priced electricity in the country.
- Although BPA’s property losses, as reported in the Department of Energy Audit, are actually lower than similarly sized utilities, we take the issue of tracking and managing assets very seriously. To that end, we recognize that opportunities exist to improve property management controls, and we embrace organizational enhancements that will help us run a “tighter ship.”
- To ensure accurate tracking and tight control of BPA’s personal property, we are enhancing our system. For example, we are providing training, developing a property communication program, and adding extra steps in our tracking procedures. We will also conduct periodic compliance reviews, to ensure that our efforts are effective. All of these actions are clearly outlined in our Enterprise Process Improvement Program, which we developed before the audit. This program will provide improvements throughout the organization, not just with regards to property management and tracking.
