Petroleum-based fuels use in the Department of Energy

BPA began taking measures in 2005 to conserve petroleum-based fuels. These measures include maximizing the use of alternative fuel vehicles, downsizing our fleet and encouraging environmentally friendly commuting options among employees. These accomplishments are consistent with the Inspector General’s September 2008 letter regarding fuel use at selected sites in the Department of Energy.

BPA also recognizes the existence of other fuel-reduction opportunities and appreciates the Inspector General’s suggestions in this regard. We will continue to pursue conservation strategies to further reduce our carbon footprint.
