BPA is working on improved program structures that will support utilities in capturing commercial building shell opportunities to offer more robust commercial shell offerings.

Small Commercial Window Retrofits

The April 2011 Implementation Manual introduced a new measure for small commercial window retrofit opportunities. The measure is a retrofit of existing single-pane windows in small commercial buildings under 5,000 sq. ft. See the Implementation Manual for more information. The following form will be required for program reimbursement. Small Commercial Insulation Retrofits

The Implementation Manual currently lists a measure for small commercial insulation retrofit opportunities. The measure is for the addition of attic, wall or floor insulation in existing small commercial buildings under 5,000 sq. ft. See the Implementation Manual for more information. All other commercial window applications will still be treated as Custom Projects, see below for more information.

Custom Commercial Shell Projects

Many upgrades are available to commercial projects through the BPA Custom Project process. BPA is exploring rolling out streamlined approaches to many custom projects with a primary goal of faster turnarounds to encourage an increase in volume and savings. Utilities should contact their Energy Efficiency Representative for more information.
