To Customers and Interested Parties:

Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) has been approached by several large, generating public utilities with a proposal for marketing BPA's federal power. This approach is called "A Slice of the System." The concept is that Slice purchasers would pay a share of the costs of the power system in exchange for the same percentage of its power production and capabilities, including the right to determine how their share of the system is operated within non-power constraints.

The proposal is a fundamental change in how the Federal Columbia River Power System is currently managed and, as such, has both risks and benefits associated with it. We would like to invite you to learn more about Slice, how it would work, and help identify issues that need further discussion.

Public Meeting Scheduled

You are invited to attend a public meeting on Wednesday, May 13, scheduled from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Bonneville Power Administration, 905 N.E. 11th Street in Portland. Upon entering the BPA lobby, Security personnel can direct you to the Rates Hearing Room in the 911 Building where the meeting will be held. The meeting room is on the second floor, Room 223. Those attending the meeting will need to register at the Security Desk in the 911 building lobby and show picture identification. Parking space in the area is limited, and you may want to consider using one of the pay lots in the vicinity of the building. Pay lots are located at 7th & Pacific, 7th & Holladay, and 6th & Multnomah.

To help make sure we have the right size room and enough handouts for the May 13 meeting, please call us at 1-800-622-4519 and let us know if you plan to attend. When you call, we would also like to know if you would like your name to remain on the mailing list for future meeting notices or other Slice mailings. If we do not hear from you, we will assume you do not wish to receive additional information on this subject.

If you cannot attend the meeting but wish to comment, please write us at P.O. Box 12999, Portland, OR 97212, or via our e-mail address: Comment@BPA.gov.
