We have been making remarkable progress at the Slice negotiations, which is reflected in the attached Slice Calendar. My thanks to all of you who have contributed to this effort!
This is a reminder of the next Slice Meetings. We will meet on January 5-6 in Seattle at Seattle City Light (700 - 5th Avenue, 32nd Floor). On the 5th we will meet from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (telephone bridge 1-503-230-3344, password 1476); on the 6th we will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (telephone bridge 1-503-230-3344, password 3579).
As is reflected on the attached Slice calendar, on the 5th we will review the Straw Proposal as it stands at the time of the meeting (you will be receiving the version of the proposal that has been revised to incorporate changes agreed to at our meetings on either January 3rd or 4th).
On January 6th we will turn our attention to technical matters, including implementation specifics (brainstorming about algorithms, software, and other mechanisms necessary to implement Slice) as well as any other operational issue where questions remain (we are not aware of any at this time).
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN SLICE BUT HAVE NOT YET BEEN ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN NEGOTIATING SESSIONS, THE JANUARY 5TH MEETNG IS AN IMPORTANT SESSION THAT YOU SHOULD CONSIDER ATTENDING.
Although BPA will continue to accept and consider comments on the proposal until the end of January, in order to ensure that the entire group (BPA and customers) has an opportunity to fully explore your comments prior to the finalization of the product, it would be helpful if you could come to the January 5th meeting to present your thoughts.
Thanks! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to give me a call.
