Join BPA for a webinar from noon – 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28 for a webinar that demonstrates opportunities for its customers to receive incentives for the purchase and operation of higher-efficiency distribution transformers. The baseline efficiency for this measure is the Department of Energy 2016 Standard, or DOE-2016 Standard. Amorphous-core transformers easily beat the DOE-2016 Standard, but are not a requirement for the incentive. Come learn why this is true. The webinar will address the ferro-resonance question and the impact of harmonics on transformer losses. It will also demonstrate the use of the reconductor and transformer calculator, or RT calculator, for this application. In addition, a guest from BC Hydro technical staff will share their work and learnings on amorphous-core distribution transformers.
Presenters include: Gil McCoy, WSU Energy Program Engineer. Tony Koch, Utility Distribution Efficiency Lead Engineer. David Bell, Energy Efficiency Electrical Engineer. Madeleine Schaefer, BC Hydro Senior Standards Engineer.
