Crystal Springs Hatchery Program

The following comments were submitted in response to the open comment period described below.

The Bonneville Power Administration and the U.S. Forest Service invite you to attend meetings to learn about and comment on the proposed Crystal Springs Hatchery Program. BPA is proposing to fund the construction and operation of a fish hatchery in Bingham County, Idaho, that would raise Snake River spring/summer Chinook salmon and Yellowstone cutthroat trout. In addition to the hatchery, the Program includes the construction of two fish trapping facilities (weirs) on Forest Service lands in the Upper Salmon River subbasin that would be used to catch returning adults and release juvenile fish raised at the hatchery. Shoshone-Bannock Tribes of the Fort Hall Reservation would own and operate the hatchery and weirs. The U.S. Forest Service is a cooperating agency for the project’s environmental review.

Please attend one of our public meetings to share your comments and talk with members of the project team. Your feedback helps better assess the environmental impacts of the proposed project and your involvement ensures we meet our obligations under the National Environmental Policy Act.

If you have questions about the project or the environmental review process contact Jenna Peterson with BPA at 503-230-3018 or e-mail at jepeterson@bpa.gov.
