Candidate Privacy Policy
​This page provides additional details on the privacy practices of personal information submitted through BPA’s jobs site. This is supplemental to BPA’s general website privacy policy. 

BPA will use your personal information for recruitment purposes. We need the information you submit through to determine how well your education and experience qualify you for a BPA job. We also need information on matters such as citizenship and military service to determine how you are affected by federal hiring laws. If you are offered a job by BPA or become employed by BPA, your information will be used for additional employment-related purposes.

By submitting your resume/C.V. information to BPA, you agree that we may use it for recruitment purposes, including transferring data to other organizations authorized to perform specific services for BPA. We may also share your information with other federal agencies upon a request for information regarding your hiring or retention. We may share your information with the Merit Systems Protection Board or the United States Office of Special Counsel in connection with appeals. We may share your information with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission when requested in connection with investigations. Your information will not be shared with other third parties for non-recruitment purposes unless otherwise required by law. We do not give your information to any private organizations. We do not collect information for commercial marketing.

Resumes/C.V.s should include information regarding your employment history and education (degrees obtained, places worked, positions held, relevant awards, etc.) relevant to the position(s) for which you apply.

Providing your Social Security number (SSN) is not mandatory; however, failure to provide your SSN when requested may prevent or delay the processing of your application.

Providing your demographic information is voluntary, and there are no adverse effects if you choose not to provide it. Demographic information will be used for the sole purpose of determining whether BPA’s recruitment efforts are reaching all segments of the population, consistent with federal equal opportunity laws. Your responses regarding demographics are treated in a highly confidential manner. Your responses are not released to the panel rating the applications, to the selecting official, or to anyone else who can affect your application. No information provided on the demographics form is ever placed in your personnel file.

Resume/C.V. data retention

Resumes/C.V.s will be retained in order to comply with requirements on applicant data reporting. BPA will retain your information for three (3) years pursuant to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) approved retention schedule.

Updating and your resume

If you need to update or otherwise make changes to your resume/C.V., simply resubmit a new resume/C.V.
