Colstrip to Mid Columbia 500 kV Transmission System Upgrade Study 6/13/12
NorthWestern Energy, the Bonneville Power Administration, Avista and other Colstrip Parties commissioned the Colstrip 500 kV Upgrade Exploratory Study in 2009. The purpose of that study was to evaluate the potential for increasing the transfer capability from Colstrip to the Northwest without constructing new transmission lines. That study showed it is feasible to increase the transfer capability by increasing the series compensation in each 500 kV line.
Northwestern Energy, The Bonneville power Administration, and Avista have now completed the Colstrip to Mid-Columbia 500 kV Transmission System Upgrade Study. The purpose of this study is to better identify the simultaneous increase in transfer capability across the Montana-Northwest and West-of-Hatwai paths, and refine the plan-of-service.

10/23/2009 Colstrip 500 kV Upgrade Exploratory Study
Earlier this year, NorthWestern Energy, Avista Corporation, PacifiCorp, Portland General Electric Company, Puget Sound Energy and the Bonneville Power Administration commissioned an exploratory study (Colstrip 500 kV Upgrade Exploratory Study) to evaluate the potential for upgrading the Colstrip Transmission System and other Pacific Northwest Transmission Facilities to determine the increased transmission capacity from Colstrip to the Mid-C without constructing new transmission lines. Copies of this report are available through NorthWestern Energy ("NWE"). This report contains Critical Energy Infrastructure Information ("CEII") and requires the requestor to sign a CEII Non-Disclosure Agreement prior to obtaining a copy. If the requestor is determined to have a legitimate need for the information, NWE will forward a non-disclosure agreement for completion by the requestor. Non-disclosure agreements will include a description of the information being provided and the use the requestor intends for the information. 7/16/2008 Sea Breeze Pacific West Coast Cable Interconnection System Impact Study (ISIS) Report
Sea Breeze Pacific West Coast Cable, LP (Sea Breeze) submitted an Interconnection Request (Request) to the Bonneville Power Administration - Transmission Services (BPA-TS) for the West Coast Cable Project. The Request seeks interconnection to the Federal Columbia River Transmission System (FCRTS) at BPA''s Allston Substation for a 1600 MW HVDC cable to the San Francisco Bay area. The Interconnection System Impact Study (ISIS) addresses local interconnection requirements for the proposed project. To receive a copy of the ISIS report, e-mail a request along with the non-disclosure agreement to studyrequest@bpa.gov
