Vantage to Pomona Heights 230-kV Transmission Line Interconnection (DOE/EIS-0505)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Pacific Power will construct, operate, and maintain a new 230-kilovolt (kV) transmission line from Pacific Power's Pomona Heights substation located east of Selah, Washington, in Yakima County, to the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) Vantage Substation located east of the Wanapum Dam in Grant County, Washington. The existing Pacific Power Pomona Heights substation and BPA's Vantage substation will interconnect the new 230-kV transmission line to the regional electric grid.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) was the lead federal agency responsible for the preparation of an environmental impact statement (EIS) that addressed the potential effects of the Vantage to Pomona Heights 230-kV Transmission Line Project. BPA was a cooperating agency for the EIS. Additional project information can be obtained through the BLM Website.

CURRENT STATUS

In October of 2017, BPA decided to interconnect the Vantage to Pomona Heights transmission line into the Federal Columbia River Transmission System (FCRTS) via the Vantage Substation. BPA’s construction activities are anticipated to start in early 2019.
