Safety and Occupational Health Specialists

Help foster a safe and accident-free workplace for BPA employees as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist!

Duties

  • Identify, analyze and evaluate a variety of hazards, involving complex work change operations, diverse environmental conditions and human-machine relations.
  • Review safety and health plans and site-specific plans submitted by contractors for the safe accomplishment of projects occurring on the BPA transmission system.
  • Perform workplace surveys to ensure adequate hazard controls during performance of all work activities.

Requirements

  • Major study in safety or occupational health fields, or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from related disciplines
  • Experience in or related to safety and occupational health that provided the specific knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position
  • Ability to apply knowledge of a wide range of safety and occupational health management concepts, principles, practices and procedures
  • Ability to interpret, apply and develop safety and occupational health criteria, standards and techniques used in the prevention and control of accidents associated with a high-voltage electrical system
  • Knowledge of accident investigation and reporting techniques sufficient to serve as an accident investigator in the electrical, mechanical, motor vehicle and fire areas
