Duties

  • Maintain voltage levels by operating and ordering the operation of transformer taps, capacitors or reactors, generators and transmission lines.
  • Control loading of transmission lines and substation equipment.
  • Analyze abnormal transmission system conditions and solve problems relating to the continuity of service and restoration of generation, transmission and customer loads.
  • Direct prearranges and emergency switching and dispatches switchmen and others during emergencies.

Requirements

  • Experience of successful performance of all the duties of a system dispatcher
  • On-the-job training program of approximately one year
  • Ability to perform the work of a system dispatcher without more than normal supervision
  • Knowledge of the operational characteristics of a high-voltage interconnected transmission system and of the safety rules and switching and clearance procedures of a large, interconnected transmission system
