Duties

  • Work with manufacturers, BPA and other contractor resources for design, test and integration of new components into our existing facilities, equipment and systems.
  • Assist with investigating problems and conditions in electrical systems and equipment impacting costs, efficiency, safety and performance.
  • Conduct test and energization of new systems and equipment.
  • Perform engineering evaluation of data packages containing specifications, schematics, test data, construction details, etc.
  • Participate in engineering studies, analyses and calculations for the solution of problems associated with the planning, design or operation of a high-voltage power generation and transmission system.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following education requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET or a program that includes differential and integral calculus and courses in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: statics, dynamics; strength of materials; fluid mechanics, hydraulics; thermodynamics; electrical fields and circuits; nature and properties of materials; and any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics or electronics
    OR
  • College-level education, training and/or technical experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the physical; and mathematical science underlying engineering, and a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering science and techniques and the applications to one of the branches of engineering

Applicants must also possess the following:

  • Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, concepts, process and systems sufficient to understand system integration, modification, redesign, troubleshooting, installation, operation and maintenance and failure analysis for transmission protection and control systems and equipment
  • Ability to perform protective relaying, metering, telemetering, alarm and data logging systems and a wide range of control schemes
