Columbia River System Operations (CRSO) Project (DOE/EIS-0529)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation, and BPA (collectively, the Agencies) are proposing to update the approach for long-term system operations and configuration through the analysis of different alternatives to current operations and maintenance; including changes to flood risk management, navigation, hydropower, irrigation, fish and wildlife conservation, recreation, and municipal and industrial water supply.  The Agencies will analyze the potential effects on species listed under the Endangered Species Act, cultural resources, tribal resources, and other social and natural resources. This environmental impact statement (EIS) will be used to select a preferred alternative, which will be adopted by the Agencies to operate and maintain the Columbia River System for the long term.

CURRENT STATUS:
The Agencies are considering comments received during the public scoping period while developing alternatives and preparing the draft EIS.  

PROPOSED SCHEDULE:
Notice of Intent Publication September 30, 2016
Public scoping period  September 30, 2016 – February 7, 2017
Scoping public meetings October – January 2017
Draft EIS available for public comment by March 2020
Final EIS by March 2021
Record of Decision by September 2021
