BPA has conducted multiple market studies to estimate the energy savings from changes in the residential and nonresidential lighting markets. BPA developed a quantitative framework to estimate the changes in consumption through two stock-turnover models. These models were developed using regional stock and sales data, technical specifications for numerous lamps, and interview data to validate market trends.
In 2017, the BPA team will continue to improve upon the market research already conducted over the last several years. BPA will collect non-residential lighting sales data for 2016; stay abreast of market trends through market actor interviews and trade show attendance; and plan a comprehensive study to address data gaps in outdoor lighting.
